Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) is a movement to raise awareness of the abduction of over 200 schoolgirls in Chibok, Nigeria, by the terrorist group Boko Haram. The movement has since expanded to include a broader fight against the abduction and violence against women and girls in Nigeria and around the world.

The Chibok Girls Abduction

On April 14, 2014, Boko Haram militants attacked the Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok, Nigeria, and abducted over 200 schoolgirls. The girls were taken to the Sambisa Forest, a stronghold of Boko Haram, and held captive for over two years. During their captivity, the girls were subjected to physical and sexual abuse, and many were forced to marry their captors.

The abduction of the Chibok girls sparked international outrage and led to the creation of the BBOG movement. The movement's demands are simple: that the Nigerian government and the international community do everything in their power to bring back the girls and ensure their safe return home.

BBOG's Campaign

BBOG has been campaigning for the release of the Chibok girls since their abduction in 2014. The movement has organized protests, rallies, and social media campaigns to raise awareness of the girls' plight. BBOG has also met with government officials, international organizations, and celebrities to advocate for the girls' release.

In addition to its work on the Chibok girls' case, BBOG has also been working to raise awareness of the broader issue of violence against women and girls in Nigeria. The movement has organized campaigns against child marriage, rape, and other forms of gender-based violence.

Impact of BBOG

BBOG has had a significant impact on the issue of abduction and violence against women and girls in Nigeria. The movement has helped to raise awareness of the issue, and has put pressure on the Nigerian government to take action to address it.

BBOG has also been successful in securing the release of some of the Chibok girls. In 2016, 21 of the girls were released after negotiations between the Nigerian government and Boko Haram. In 2017, another 82 girls were released. However, over 100 of the girls are still missing.

Despite the challenges, BBOG continues to fight for the release of the remaining girls and for an end to violence against women and girls in Nigeria. The movement is a powerful example of the power of activism and the importance of standing up for what is right.

There are many ways to get involved with BBOG and support the movement's work. You can:
